…I would so want it to be like Project Runway, where the drama and techniques of the creative process are celebrated. Watching the choreographers respond to certain creative parameters would be a far better way to educate the public about modern dance and I think that watching the dancers in that sort of context would be a better display of their skills then side-by-side comparisons.

I’m the last person on earth without cable so I haven’t seen the show; going on a Television Without Pity play-by-play.
Wondering whether it would be possible to videoblog/webcast the concept. Enlist choreographers, give assignments (perhaps including dancers to be choreographed on and some limited number of hours of rehearsal space), upload vids of the process/results, provide commentary and solicit audience feedback. Could be cool.

Well that Dance Charette back in September was something along those lines. I definitely think its a cool idea.

I am a HUGE project runway fan… and I think it’s because of the artisitic challenges, and the peek into their processes. how great would that be do within the context of modern dance…? can’t believe the idea hadn’t crossed my mind before this.
